Wet rooms designed around mobility and independence

A wet room can transform daily life for anyone living with reduced mobility, a disability, or the challenges that come with age. By removing the step into a bath or shower tray, a level-access wet room makes washing safer, easier and more dignified - whether you're using a wheelchair, a shower seat, or simply need to feel secure on your feet.

At AA Gas Services, we design and install disabled and mobility wet rooms for homeowners, families and landlords throughout Hull, Beverley, Cottingham, Hessle and the surrounding East Yorkshire villages. Every installation is carried out by our own experienced team - no subcontractors - and finished to the same high standard we've built our local reputation on since 2005.

Why choose a wet room for accessibility?

A level-access wet room brings together everything that makes bathing safer, easier and more dignified.

Disabled Facilities Grant - help with the cost

You may not have to pay for the full cost of your wet room yourself. The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) is council funding that can help pay for adaptations - including wet rooms and level-access showers - when they're needed to keep someone safe and independent at home.

Grants are administered through Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, usually following an assessment by an occupational therapist. We're happy to talk you through how the process works, supply the detailed quotes councils require, and carry out the work to the standard they expect.

Tip: Even if you're funding the work privately, ask us about an itemised quote - many of our customers are surprised by what support is available.

Disabled wet room installation FAQs

Do you install wet rooms for the elderly as well as disabled users?

Blue downward chevron arrow icon.

Absolutely. Many of our wet rooms are installed to help older customers bathe safely and keep their independence at home - with features like level access, grab rails and seating tailored to them.

How long does a wet room take to install?

Blue downward chevron arrow icon.

Most installations take around 3 to 7 days depending on the size of the room and the amount of plumbing and preparation needed. We'll give you a clear timescale before we start.

Is wet room flooring slippery?

Blue downward chevron arrow icon.

No - we fit specialist non-slip vinyl or anti-slip tiling designed specifically for wet rooms, giving secure footing whether the floor is wet or dry.

What's the minimum size for a disabled wet room?

Blue downward chevron arrow icon.

There's no single legal minimum, but for comfortable wheelchair access we'd usually recommend a room of at least around 2.2m x 2.2m. During your free assessment we'll advise what's realistic in your space and design the best possible layout around it.

Can I get a grant for a wet room?

Blue downward chevron arrow icon.

Yes - the Disabled Facilities Grant can cover some or all of the cost of a wet room when it's needed for mobility or disability reasons. Funding is arranged through your local council, usually after an occupational therapy assessment. We can supply the quotes and documentation the council needs.

How much does a disabled wet room cost in Hull?

Blue downward chevron arrow icon.

Most disabled wet room installations fall between roughly £5,000 and £10,000 depending on the size of the room, the flooring and fixtures chosen, and any drainage or structural work needed. We give clear, upfront pricing with no hidden costs after a free home assessment - and we'll let you know if you may qualify for grant funding.
