When is a boiler installation needed?
Is your old boiler constantly breaking down or costing you a fortune in energy bills? It might be time for a new boiler. Here are the key signs that indicate you need a boiler replacement rather than another costly repair.

Common reasons for a boiler replacement

Boiler age and efficiency
Boilers over 10-15 years old lose efficiency dramatically. A new A-rated boiler could cut your heating bills by hundreds of pounds per year.

Constant repairs needed
When repair costs keep mounting up, replacement becomes the smarter financial choice. A new boiler comes with warranty protection.

No hot water or heating
Complete boiler failure means you need hot water and heating restored fast. We can install a new boiler quickly to get you back up and running.

High energy bills
Modern condensing boilers are up to 90%+ efficient compared to older models at 60-70%. The savings pay for themselves over time.

Yellow flame or soot
These are signs of carbon monoxide risk. If your boiler shows these warning signs, replacement is essential for safety.

Leaking or corroded boiler
Visible leaks, rust, or corrosion on your boiler indicate internal damage that can't be repaired. A leaking boiler is dangerous and inefficient, requiring immediate replacement for safety.
Investing in a new boiler saves you money long term
While a new boiler is an investment, modern energy-efficient models dramatically reduce your gas bills month after month. Combined with fewer breakdowns and warranty coverage, you'll save hundreds over the boiler's 10-15 year lifespan.

Boiler Installation FAQs
What's included in the installation?
Our installations include removal of your old system, fitting your new boiler with all necessary components, flushing and testing the system, Gas Safe registration, manufacturer warranty registration, and a full demonstration of how to operate your new heating system.
How long will my new boiler last?
A properly installed and regularly serviced boiler typically lasts 10 to 15 years. Annual servicing by a qualified engineer is essential to maintain efficiency, prevent breakdowns, and keep your manufacturer's warranty valid.
What happens to my old boiler?
We'll safely disconnect and remove your old boiler, along with any redundant tanks, pipework, and components. All materials are disposed of responsibly in line with environmental regulations, and the area will be left clean and tidy.
Will I have heating and hot water during installation?
You'll typically be without hot water for at least one day during installation. If you have an electric shower or immersion heater, this can help minimise disruption. For installations spanning multiple days, we'll do our best to restore heating and hot water each evening where possible.
What type of boiler is best for my home?
The right boiler depends on your property size and hot water needs. Combi boilers are ideal for smaller homes with one bathroom, providing instant hot water without needing tanks. System boilers suit larger homes with multiple bathrooms, storing hot water in a cylinder for simultaneous use. Regular boilers work best for properties with existing heating systems and high hot water demand.
Can I install a boiler by myself?
No, you cannot install a boiler yourself. By law, all gas boiler installations must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. This ensures the installation is safe, compliant with building regulations, and covered by the proper certifications you'll need when selling your property.
How long does a boiler installation take?
Most boiler installations are completed within one to two days. A straightforward like-for-like replacement (such as swapping an old combi for a new combi) typically takes one day. However, if you're changing the type of boiler or relocating it to a different position, the installation may take two days due to additional pipework and system modifications.
