Taking time over which boiler to purchase to replace an old one could mean a long period with no heating or hot water, but it's important to get the decision right to save you money in the long term.

All new boilers installed in homes should be A-rated, or in other words at least 88% efficient, according to building regulations.

You'll need to think about what type of boiler you need. Combination boilers, or combi boilers, heat water as and when you need it and they don't need to store water in a tank. Heat-only boilers are more conventional and store water in a tank. System boilers are the same as heat-only boilers, except with more components built in, meaning they generally take up less space in your home.

Because boilers come in difference sizes and capacities, you will also need to find out whether your chosen boiler will fit the space you have in your home.

Government funding could be available to you if your boiler is over 8 years old. To find our more about whether you are eligible, we recommend reading the Which? guide to Energy Company Obligation

According to a Which? survey, 93% of people trust their heating engineer for boiler recommendations. To speak to an engineer about boiler efficiency and the right boiler for you, contact us on 01482 755390.
