Our plumbers in Hull were called to a house at which the owners felt that their radiators were not giving out enough heat, and the shower was not heating up properly.
We gave the boiler a full service, which involved checking for gas leaks, checking the working pressure at the boiler and checking that it had the correct level of ventilation. We also cleaned the heat exchanger and the boiler controls.
The pressure of the boiler was at 17.5 millibars, so we turned it down to 12 millibars, as it was using more gas than it needed. Plus, we turned the temperature dial up a couple of notches, to increase the heat of the water running through the system.
Hopefully this will have sorted both the problems, but we could also do a power flush, to further increase efficiency and decrease running costs, if the customer decides this is something they want to pursue at a later date.
Not only that, but our plumbers in Hull had to deal with a leaking overflow pipe and a toilet that wouldn’t flush properly.
The leaking overflow pipe was a simple fix, it just needed a new ball valve, but it was something that the owners had lived with, dripping outside their house, for two years.
The toilet needed a new water syphon which helps to increase the pressure inside the cistern to allow the flushing motion to have some resistance to push against. We had to take the whole unit off the wall to fit it, but we fitted it with a syphon that can be more easily replaced, when needed. All in a day’s work for our plumbers in Hull.
A build up of scale inside the cistern had also meant it was refilling slowly, so we gave it a good clean and our customers now don’t have to wait so long between flushes.
Our plumbers in Hull were there for just three hours to complete this entire job, and we feel it was an afternoon very well spent.
Our customers should now be able to feel the difference and can enjoy Christmas in a warmer, more efficient home. And that makes us feel warm inside as well as outside.
