Our central heating becomes our lifeblood during the colder months. But if you’re running a poorly maintained system you could be spending more money than you need to heat your home. Bleed all your radiators and clean any dust and debris from your pipes and boiler. Consider investing in heavy drapes to prevent heat from leaking out of the windows, sealing any cracks. Check that your thermostat is running between 18 degrees C and 21 degrees C for the highest energy efficiency and programme the hot water and heating to only come on when needed.
You should have your boiler and gas appliances serviced at least once a year by AA Gas Services to ensure they’re working correctly and, as we pointed out in the last blog, not leaking any poisonous carbon monoxide into your home. If you have taken advantage of our boiler cover, this would include an annual service by an accredited AA Gas Services engineer.
